Make hay while the sun shines!

I'm always amazed every year by how quickly the farmer makes his hay..there's absolutely no messing about..it goes like clockwork.

Church flower festival.

Central Church, Brighouse flower festival on the theme of Pearls of Wisdom. Beautiful and ingenious floral displays, a warm welcome and very nice afternoon tea! Here are some of the wonderful exhibits:

"One of the secrets of ife is to make stepping stones out of stumbling blocks"

"He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge"

"If God sends us on a stony path, He will provide us with strong shoes"

"If music be the food of love, play on - give me excess of it."

"Consider the lilies of the field: how they grow. they toil not. neither do they spin."

"It is your own face that you see reflected in the water and it is your own self that you see in your heart."

"People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out but when darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed- only if there is light from within."

Beautiful, Yorkshire rose.

"A man travels the world in search of what he needs and returns home to find it."

"Into each life a little rain must fall."

One of the individually suspended raindrops.

"Be still and know that I am God."

"Do not judge a book by its cover."

"The Lord hates people who use dishonest scales- He is happy with honest weights."

Morecambe Potted Shrimps

These are one of life's little pleasures..sweet, nutty, deliciously toothsome. Not always available so I always buy them when I find some...wonderful on fresh, brown bread. They are cooked with spices, nutmeg I think and smothered in butter, so not particularly healthy as such but once in a while doesn't matter. They're tiny and not as impressive looking as say Tiger prawns or Langoustine, but they taste a world apart..sometimes biggest isn't always better!

Sow.

Pinky and Perky the piglets have a sow now...aw.

Carnations.

A bowl of pink carnations on my patio table. I love the grey-green foliage and the scent of the blooms is just lovely.

"The niff of a decent carnation"

Iris

Unusual coloured iris growing in the school grounds...matches the uniform, gold and blue.
