Pig corn holders.

I can't wait to use these! What will they think of next?!

later...

Oh how funny!

great sweetcorn...the sweetest I ever tasted!

Spring garden.

Everything's looking really pretty in the garden...all lilac and yellows..just in time for Easter! The weather's been fabulous this week and brought everything on..although apparently we have "wintry showers" forecast for next week.

I think these are Jonquils..they have the most fragrant scent.

Snake's Head Fritillary. Only the cream one has come up this time, the burgundy ones didn't survive.

Wild primrose and Drumstick primula.

Muscari and Violas.

Aubretia.

Helebore.

Cottage Pie.

Every now and again I really fancy Cottage Pie! I'm not as fond of Shepherd's Pie though...Cottage Pie is made with beef mince, while Shepherd's is with lamb (in case you didn't know!)

I put spring onions and cream and butter in the mash, sprinkled with cheese and put tomatoes on...left a strip mashless for the fussy ones! Didn't get a pic of it cooked, it didn't last long enough! Always served with peas, pickled red cabbage and brown sauce...lovely!

Old plate.

I found this old plate in the loft, which had belonged to my mother's family...it's very interesting. It commemorates the Emin Pacha Relief Expedition  to Africa, during Queen Victoria's reign in 1887.

Greenhead Park, Huddersfield.

It was such a beautiful day yesterday...Spring sunshine tempted many people out for the first time this year..we decided to visit a new park which we've not been to before..Greenhead Park in Huddersfield. We were pleasantly surprised by how lovely it was...there has been Heritage Fund money used to renovate parts and make it tidy and welcoming.

Getting ready to sail on the boating lake.

Bandstand.

War memorial in the distance...I was surprised at the size of it..it reminded me of something you might see in London, not a small, Northern town.

Drinking water fountain.

The memorial was covered in tributes to the six soldiers from the Yorkshire regiment, who were sadly killed last week in Afghanistan.

Beautiful daffodils.

Long shadows at the end of the afternoon.

Garden birdies.

Mr Robin continues to visit me daily...what a fine fellow he is.

Aha! Finally caught him on the poppy bird feeder! He loves dried mealworms!

The Lady of the garden..so beautiful.

She enjoys fat-soaked bread.

Spring has sprung!

I planted lots of bulbs back in Autumn...thinking ahead to the beautiful Spring....they were my hope for the New Year....well here they are!

Pinky and Perky are blooming!

Beautiful Hellebore.

Spatchcocked chicken.

Cut down the back of the chicken and push the carcass flat...you can secure with skewers, especially if you're barbequeuing. Squeeze lemons and garlic over and add thyme and seasoning and olive oil and a splash of white wine.. Roast until golden.

Succulent, tender chicken and crispy skin...mmmm.
