My daughter's new Pointe shoes...a rite of passage when you're 11...they are sooo beautiful...made in Russia by Grishko. I spent ages sewing in the ribbon as recommended by the manufacturer, so that the ribbon cradles the heel...they feel so perfect and lovely..I've applied tape to the toes to protect the satin. Apparently you can buy suede caps to glue on so I'll have to have a go with those later. The whole thing is a huge learning curve...like some secret club..no one really tells you what to do with them! The mothers of older girls at the class explained to us how to hammer the toes to soften them and keeping them warm helps too...who knew?! At the moment we are just cooing over them..can't wait to see her actually wearing them! She said she couldn't believe she'd finally got hers after all this time watching the older girls...aw.
