Origami piglet

Oink, oink!
My friend picked up a leaflet at the local agricultural show knowing I'd love it!

Zoo biscuits.

These are just so delicious, little plain buttery biscuits in the shape of animals! How wonderful it would be to serve them at a serious meeting..that'd break the ice!

Portugal drawings.

The distant, metallic clang
of an ancient church bell
pierces the stillness
of a dry,  August afternoon.
Tablets of soft pastels
blocked against a cobalt sky.
The heat so intense
it seems louder than
the cicadas.
Counting the days
until the pomegranates
are ready again.

Weeds and shadows.

Last minute holiday in the sunshine before the Autumn season sets in.

Sail away....watching the little boats at Gale.

Evening at Armacao de Pera...watch out for the mozzies though!

Huge fig tree growing over a garden wall.

Podding time!

The most successful crop by far in our little kitchen garden has been the peas..we've had loads! They are so sweet and delicious..never making it to the kitchen, let alone a pan!

We're leaving the Broad Beans to fatten up a bit!

The Runner Beans have only just made flowers so I don't know if there'll be time now to get a crop, but we'll wait and see.

Sweet Peas!

Well I'm completely delighted to be able to say the Sweet Peas I planted have begun flowering... not had much success over the last few years unfortunately.

Some of the blooms are so dark blue they're almost navy. A beautiful specimen.

These are a little more violet than the advertised blue, but have an intense perfume which is so wonderful.

Watch this space..they're a little behind the others!
