Grandma's Apple Pie

Line a pie tin with pastry, peel 2 Bramley apples and slice into chunks, place apple on pastry and sprinkle over 3/4 tablespoons of sugar. Cover apple with a pastry lid, crimp the edges to seal and brush with beaten egg and sprinkle sugar on before baking in a hot oven for 30 mins.
Cooking the apple this way results in a more "appley" flavour to the finished pie and gives a better texture.

Yorkshire Puds

Mix a cup of plain flour with a cup of eggs and a cup of milk.
Pour batter into yorkshire pudding tray half filled with hot oil or beef fat from your joint of beef.
Bake until risen and golden (approx 20-30 mins)

Tulips

The tulips I planted in the wall are finally flowering, I had to put wire mesh over the top to stop the squirrel from digging them up!

Retro Gravy Jug

I love my new vintage gravy jug! Perfect for when you need to serve "summat moist."

Wall basket

I've planted my wall basket with alpines this time.

White Admiral Phlox

My new plant for my herbacious border, a White Admiral Phlox. I'm hoping it will spread so I can divide it. I like white flowers, they provide a good cool contrast to all the other colours, restful on the eye.

Joy the cat has taken to sitting in the kitchen sink. Bonkers, that cat! Maybe I can train her to wash-up....now there's a thought....

Magnificent Magnolia

I came across this wonderful Magnolia tree today. The petals were the most beautiful pink colour, all waxy and unspoilt.

Baked Camembert

Pierce the cheese a few times, sprinkle with white wine, a few sprigs of thyme and black pepper. Bake in its box for about 20-30 mins then dip toasted pitta bread fingers in...voila, your own little fondu!

Love bird bird bath

Finally put my new bird bath out which I received for my birthday.

View on a Spring evening.

From where I'm layed...blue sky and just sprouting Rowan tree.

Lavender hedge.

I've had to replant my lavender hedge as all the others died over winter under the blanket of snow which seemed to last forever.
I've used variety Munstead.

Pink Watering Can

My new, pink watering can!
